Introduction
Bowel disorders are far more prevalent than most people may think and affect millions of people worldwide1. There are many possible causes of bowel disorders, including neurogenic disorders stemming e.g., from a spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, or parkinson’s disease, as well as being on medication, psychological and hormonal disorders, structural abnormalities of the rectum, pelvic organ surgery, or simply giving birth. Because the pathway to treatment for people with bowel disorders can be very long, patients may struggle with physical and emotional challenges.
